Santorini

Santorini is one of the islands of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. It was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, which forever shaped its rugged landscape. The white-walled houses that distinguish the two main cities, Oia and Fira, are perched on top of the cliffs overlooking a caldera (crater) underwater. From these cities the landscape widens over the sea, on the small islands that are located to the west and on the beaches made of black, red and white volcanic stone.
